Common issues we can address in your sessions may include:
• depression, mood swings, stress,
anxiety, grief and loss, anger, self-doubt, low self-esteem, confusion, fear, overwhelm, unhealthy patterns of behavior;
•
relationship issues having to do with communication, commitment, intimacy, sex, trust, work/family life balance, parenting;
•
recovery from trauma including physical, emotional, or sexual abuse or other life traumas;
• issues related to
substance use or abuse.
In addition to these named, there are many more areas that a client can choose to focus
the work on. Treatment is individualized and there are no "off-limits" topics.
I am trained in the use of a treatment approach called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
and have been using this powerfully healing approach since 2003 with
excellent results. It is used in the office, during the course of a therapy session and is especially
helpful when working through acute traumatic experiences. Although the treatment experience can be intense, EMDR can offer
the benefit of rapid, sometimes dramatic relief. Together we can discuss the appropriateness of this option given your particular
needs and preferences.
